The Quisby

After coming from another hostel that had been rather inhospitable to me, the Quisby was my saving grace in a tricky situation. What's more, I don't believe I've ever had a better stay at a hostel in my entire life! The Quisby staff is super friendly and always willing to help. You can get fresh sheets or towel when you need, wash your laundry with provided detergent, eat provided breakfast, and with 24/7 bar + tea/coffee service you will never go thirsty! The rooms are nice too--very comfortable and clean. There's also lockers provided for your items protection, which is quite nice. Your food is safe in the fridge as well! Located right on St. Charles, it's right on the street car line if that's your jam, and not too far from Magazine St. if you feel like looking at local shops. Downtown New Orleans is right at your feet. I never felt unsafe once here and I hope others can feel confident in choosing the Quisby for their next stay. Great location, right by a streetcar stop. Free breakfast with breads, salami, grits, and coffee. Great front desk staff. My boyfriend and I shared a private queen room, it had everything a crash pad needed except for a mini fridge and microwave. However, there is a communal fridge downstairs in the lobby. The rooms are not sound proof but the guests were quiet and considerate for the most part. At the lobby you can find towels, blankets, earbuds, and in house laundry.

The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean. There was painters tape still up from a recent repair.... Other than that no complaints. It was a younger crowd but they were pleasant. 2 of the 3 desk attendants were very pleasant and helpful. The other I did not interact with much. I would recommend the experience to anyone who wants to travel and experience new things.

I enjoyed my stay here. I was a solo female traveler from the UK. Nice vibe in the bar while I was there. I stayed in a private room with an ensuite bathroom. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean .I stayed for 2 nights, then stayed elsewhere for 3 nights, then checked back in for 3 nights. My only criticisms would be that the music in the bar was quite loud on a few mornings. Like at 7am I could hear really loud music - it woke me up. I can't see the point in playing music so loud, so early in the morning. Also, when I check in for my other stay, I waited in the bar for a few hours until check in time. When I got up to my room I discovered that they hadn't yet finished cleaning. I was tired and just wanted to sleep for a bit so I told the cleaners that it was ok. And as a result I dealt with a dirty bathroom. All in all I would definitely stay here again. It's about a 20 minute walk to the french quarter, and the street car stops pretty much right outside. Also, they give you a free welcome drink.

The location of the Hostel is directly in between the french quarter and the garden District. It's close enough to both to visit, party, engage easily and far away enough to not be bothered by it. While we did hear the the music of the lobby in our room it wasn't too distracting and loud. Also, the staff was always super friendly and one can easily meet new people at breakfast or in the Lobby at the bar.

I came with my buddies and we got the private 4 bunk bed room so I can’t talk about how the public living is but they’re the same rooms. Room was nice, gave that college dorm vibe. It had everything you need, but I would bring your own pillows. Breakfast was pleasant and a good start to the day. Location is great and not a far walk from everything. Every employee I talked to was very nice and caring. Definitely a millennial and gen z type hostel but I would definitely come back.

I've stayed at Quisby 3 times, and as a solo motorcycle adventurist, it's a perfect weekend getaway out of state for me from TX! Centrally located to all things to do and see in NOLA! at a great price. I enjoy meeting fellow travelers from all over, who add to a great hostel community experience. When traveling, if you are about the local experience, vs. over-paying for a room you will spend just 15% of your time in, just to go back out and do more. This is the place. Staff is awesome!
